Description: The farm and reserve covers an area of 934 acres, 178 of them dedicated to coffee production. The owners promote the conservation of the pine forest of the reserve as well as productive activities of low impact on the environment; they also support the activities of the communities and families that work on the farm. The reserve has pleasant weather almost all year long and you can observe a diversity of birds, including some endemic regional species.


Services: Camping (with fresh water available) and nature trails.


Access: Take the CA-2 highway towards Cocales where you will turn right going through Patulúl town on the way to San Lucas Toliman. The Reserve is 3.1 miles from San Lucas Tolimán; in Pampojilá you will drive for 0.6 mile more on a dirt road that will lead you to the farm.


Tourist facilities: There are three trails of different distance and difficulty levels inside the reserve, and trails that go through the coffee plantations.


Fees and schedule: US$ 15 per person, the price includes a pound of roasted coffee from the farm.

Other features: Coffee tour in Finca Pachuj, volcanoes and Pacific coast sightseeing; mountain bike trails, visit to Río Madre Vieja waterfalls; it is also near Los Tarrales Private Natural Reserve.

Some Species: Horned Guan; Barred Parakeet, Rivoli’s (Magnificent) Hummingbird, Rose-throated Becard, Rufous-collared Robin, Painted Redstart, Azure-rumped Manager, Blue-crowned Tanager, Blue Bunting.
