Description: Located in Guatemala City, this park has been selected as a model park for the Metropolitan Green Belt, with the purpose of promoting conservation of the pine-oak mountain forest remnants inside the City. Due to the fast growing population in the City, the Park serves as an oasis for the refuge and feeding of resident and migratory birds. In this destination 106 species have been reported, including resident, endemic and migratory birds, making it an ideal place to begin your birdwatching visit through the different regions of the country; here you will your first encounter with the diversity that Guatemala offers, and learn about the variety of fauna and flora present in the City.

Services: Local guides, camping, restrooms and parking.
Access: Located in Guatemala City, about 10 to 15 minutes away from Zones 15 or 16. As you reach the traffic light on Calzada La Paz that becomes Colegio Austríaco Boulevard (Austrian School), take a right and you will find the Park.


Tourist facilities: There are five trails with different names: birdwatching trail, butterfly watching trail, Guamiles Trail, Chichicastes Trail and the bridge over Contreras River trail, as well as different posts for birdwatching.

Fees and schedules: $1 per person for Guatemalan residents and $5 per person for foreigners. The Park is open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Contact them prior to your trip so as to organize your schedule for birdwatching at early hours in the morning.

Other features: Since the Park also serves as a sports park, it offers areas to practice sports and mountain biking. The Park is also near the Jacarandas de Cayalá Municipal Park.
